"Welcome to Monash Primary School .
It is most important for a child's education that the staff and parents work very closely together."

General characteristics
Monash Primary School has a unique place in the Riverland district of South Australia. Centrally located, Monash is a small community and is surrounded by larger towns of Berri and Barmera. the immediate district is developed with wine and fruit growing properties and many families at the school are associated with the horticultural industry.

While the Monash community is relatively small, the school itself draws students from families that live in the surrounding towns of Berri, Barmera, Glossop, Winkie and Lyrup. These families are attracted to the school by the moderate size, dedicated staff and fine reputation. There is also an on-site kindergarten, which provides an excellent preschool programme.

Parent involvement is vital in the successful functioning of the school. Parents participate on a variety of levels and are warmly welcomed into the school community. The Governing Council is an efficient group of parents who work hard in maintaining the school's high level of success. The Welfare Club contributes funding and support to classroom programmes and healthy eating in the school. Class reading programmes, cutting fruit, assistance on excursions, supervision of sports events, helping at sports days, plus many more, are other ways parents can be involved.

A highlight of the school year is the annual Monash Market which occurs every May and is a successful fundraiser for the school but more importantly, a great community event.
